What’s On Stacy’s Mind?
Staying in a Creative State of Mind
Whatever you do everyday is your craft. What you release out into the world determines what life will give back to you. Everyone has creativity inside of them regardless what you do. What would the little kid inside you feel about the grown up that you have become? Would that little child be sad that you lost your creativity or that you are not using it?
The biggest question for me is how do I remain in a creative space so that I am affecting the world in a positive way on a daily basis?
We live in a world of distraction. It’s true. It is so easy to spend the best hours of our best days distracted and not doing anything but watching television or scrolling Facebook or Instagram. Can I get an “Amen”? I stopped watching television two years ago and it has changed my life in so many positive ways.
It is necessary to totally block out these distractions so that we can get into the creative zone. Build your life and work flow around total focus by creating a ‘total focus schedule’. Schedule time for yourself where you are focused on your creative tasks for 60 minute bursts. Turn off the technology build solitude, isolation and quiet so that you can do genius level work.
Make lists, carry a notebook everywhere, write your thoughts, write your idea’s. Remember, no one is going to grade you, no one has to look at it, but there is something that happens when we write our thoughts on paper.
Take breaks, get back to nature, sing, and listen to music. Engaging the right side of your brain fires the neurons to make us more creative.
Be open, talk to strangers, live with an open heart without fear of judgement. Surround yourself with creative people who lift each other up. Creativity generates more creativity. When you are surrounding yourself with other creatives you are able to receive quality feedback and productive collaboration.
Never give up. Keep practicing, allow yourself to make mistakes. Mistakes help us learn. Try new things, go new places, eat new food. Experiencing life to it’s fullest opens our minds to potential and helps us generate idea’s.
Be grateful, count your blessings, focus on all of the good things around you.
Rest, retreat, disconnect, get quality sleep. Keep your workplace neat.
Take risks. Break the rules. Travel. See the world. Each time we see something new it sparks enthusiasm and idea’s. Take out that notebook and write them down.
Don’t force things. If you have to force something to happen, it probably wasn’t the right thing to begin with. The right doors always open for us to easily walk through. When things are meant to be they happen with ease.
Finish things. Don’t let yourself get stuck in the cycle of unfinished projects. This is probably on of the hardest things. How many times have you gotten to the halfway point of a project and lose interest or lose faith in yourself to finish. I want to encourage you to push through and finish.
Do things that make you genuinely happy.
Remember, YOU are a creative being. You were meant to be creative.
I hope this inspires you in some way to engage in your creative self. Do that thing that you’ve always wanted to try. It doen’t matter how it turns out. The important thing is that you give it a try.
Love Always,
Stacy
