Happiness is an Inside Job
All of us have been through periods of our life where we go through grief, sadness and loss. It happens and God knows I’ve been through it too. That is part of life. But even when we go through an event that causes grief, sadness or anger we must still remain with a positive mind set. Easier said than done, right?
Research shows that when people work within a positive outlook, their performance on every level improves. Happiness still remains on of the most misunderstood drivers of performance in business. Many people say, “oh, when I am successful, I’ll be happy”...um, no...It doesn’t work like that. Success is a moving target. Once you hit your target, the happiness that results is only momentary. It works the other way around. People who cultivate happiness in their daily life and who actively pursue happiness always perform better in the face of challenges. Yes, it’s true. happy people have the advantage over the angry birds.
Training your mind to be happy is much like training your body for a marathon. The brain has the ability to change and you can develop new mental habits. You CAN rewire your brain. Engaging in a brief exercise each day for as little as three weeks can have a lasting impact on your life. The following ways are simple things you can do right now to rewire your brain. Beginning to do things like: 1.Each day write down things your grateful for. 2. Write a positive heartfelt message to someone. 3. Sit in silent meditation. 4. Exercise. 5. Each day take a few minutes to write the most meaningful experience that happened in your day.
I personally do these things. In addition to this, I use an essential oil blend by Young Living called Joy. It has oils in it like Rose, Bergamot and Ylang Ylang which carry the frequency (hz) of Joy. The amazing thing is that within minutes of application, the emotional state is renewed to Joy and peace. Each day I apply oil on my skin before I leave the house and it truly keeps me in a state of Joy. People often comment about my smile and happiness and that makes me very happy because I do try to manage my happiness.
Sure, everyone has days that are better than others but ultimately we are in charge of our emotional state. When I recognize that I am feeling less than joyful or stressed out, I immediately manage my emotions.
When I see people on the street wearing a permanent frown, I smile big towards them. I say something nice. I do not allow their frown to make my smile turn upside down.
Happiness is indeed an inside job and the only one responsible for your happiness is you. The only one responsible for my happiness is me. I hope when we see each other, we are always smiling and full of gladness.
I love you,
Stacy
