Almost Home...and BOOM!!!
Tonight I was traveling across Louisiana on Interstate 12. It has been a long day. I was almost home. 30 miles to go and it starts to rain. Hard Rain. Grey, hard rain and huge crashes of lightning all around. I could not see the road at all and I started to feel scared. All of the cars on the interstate were going 20 miles an hour. The eighteen wheelers were buzzing by.
I had to get off of that interstate. I took the first exit I saw. I just stayed to the right until I could park. The storm was so bad. The rain, the wind, the lightning striking the ground within 100 yards from my car. I could feel my suv shaking. I pulled my dog Zoe out of her car seat and I held her tight. I called home and Eric pulled up the weather radar on the internet. He told me that I was right in the middle of it. He could see the lightning strikes.
“Eric, is their a tornado? I think I am near a tornado. The wind!”.
I can feel the electricity in the air.
Lighting strikes in the woods 100 yards away.
BOOM!!!!!!
Thunder so loud. Oh, My God, It is SO LOUD. It sounds louder than 1,000 cannons. Right above me. All Around.
I was crying. Eric felt helpless to console me.
Then, I notice I am parked behind a huge piece of farming equipment.
When finally, the weather eased up a bit, Eric managed to talk me into getting back on the road. As I pulled onto the interstate I see tree branches all over the road. I started to cry again because I realized it was true, I had been very close to a tornado.
Now, home safe, but I am too wound up to sleep. My eyes hurt from crying. My eyes are so puffy. Tomorrow morning I look like Muppet.
Once more, I was protected.
Thank you God, for your continued protection.
Tomorrow will be a new day.
Good Night.
Love,
Stacy
